Feeling uncomfortable about an investment you’ve been considering? Not sure if you should believe your friend when he or she says the opportunity is too good to be missed? If you are unsure whether to report, give yourself some peace of mind. Research the particular company or individual that is offering the investment. Only you can ensure that you are making an informed decision:

The Attorney General’s Investor Protection Bureau investigates suspected fraud relating to the offer, sale, or purchase of securities, including stocks, bonds, and many other types of investments. The Bureau has the authority to commence legal actions on behalf of the public.
The Bureau does not serve as an attorney for individual investors. If you decide to submit a complaint with the Bureau, you may want to consider whether additional steps are appropriate, such as hiring your own attorney. Even if the Bureau does not take action on your complaint, the complaint will serve the important purpose of informing the Bureau about ongoing activity that could lead to a future investigation.
